Mission and Vision

Mission

Inspired by Franciscan values, we seek to serve the Risen Christ by fostering fraternity and communion among members and assisting the work of the Order of Friars Minor in the United States provinces and missions.

Vision

Energized by the spirit of St. Francis and St. Clare to spread Gospel peace, joy, and healing, we envision a Christian fellowship of all who have attended or assisted the formation programs of the United States OFM Provinces.  As six of the provinces unify into one, we welcome these members and their families to join together in creating a vibrant national Franciscan fellowship.

Overview

The Franciscan Alumni Association consists of men who were involved in the Order of Friars Minor formation programs in the United States and their spouses and family members.  These men aspired to discern a religious vocation inspired by St. Francis of Assisi and by the men in the Order he founded.  Our alumni include members who have professed vows in the Order of Friars Minor and members who continue to follow Franciscan values in their vocations and careers as married men or as single men.  Former teachers, staff, and friars who dedicated themselves to the men in formation are also welcome to join us.

The Board of Trustees oversees the planning of an annual reunion for members, the publication of an annual newsletter, the maintaining of a Franciscan Alumni Association website and a Facebook group, and the recognition of outstanding alums, members, and former formation personnel with a Christian Life Award and a Humanitarian Award.  The Board also pursues ways to support the United States provinces and missions of the Order of Friars Minor through prayer, fraternity, donations, and service.
