June 22 - 25, 2017 - On the grounds of the former St. Francis Seminary
The FAA Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the 2017 Franciscan Alumni Association Reunion will take place June 22 - 25, 2017, in Cincinnati, Ohio, on the grounds of the former St. Francis Seminary. The Chapter Coordinator for this event will be Paul Landers (74).
It's Time to Gather Again!
It’s all about the people, whether we’re in Albuquerque, Washington or Bloomington. The local attractions are fun and interesting, but the people that we visit with bring them alive. Cincinnati provides the highest concentration of our alumni who can attend our reunions, and so every event or gathering will provide a unique group of people. It’s likely that out-of-towners will enjoy every opportunity provided over the course of four days, which makes it that much more important for alumni in the local area to stop in for one or more events as their schedules allow.
Please let us know if you will be attending by sending us an email. Don't forget to include your full name, the names of those who will be accompanying you, and your graduating year. We can be reached at 2017Reunion@Franciscan-Alumni.org.
Additional details can be found in the Spring 2017 FAA Newsletter.
Please note: There is no charge for the event, although there will be a basket for contributions to cover the cost of food and beverages provided on Friday and Saturday evenings. Fees for lodging, activities, and dinners at restaurants are to be paid by individual participants.
Where to Stay
The Quality Inn and Suites near I-275 in Fairfield, Ohio, will again be the place for lodging and gathering. It is located at 11967 Chase Plaza Drive, in Cincinnati, Ohio, 45240. They can be reached at 513-825-9600.
A special room rate of $89.00 (plus tax) includes breakfast. To receive this rate, you must make the reservation by May 21, 2017. Tell them you are with the Franciscan Alumni Reunion.
If you know which events you might like to attend, please let us know by sending us an email to 2017Reunion@Franciscan-Alumni.org.
Please note that events are being added as they are finalized. Please check back often.
Informal gathering at The Public House, 3807 North Bend Road, Cheviot, Ohio. We will be in the party room in the lower level, starting at 6:00 pm for dinner. This sports bar, which is owned by a son of Mark Kling ('75), serves outstanding sandwiches and dinners, including Irish pub fare and German cuisine.
We’ll begin with morning prayer at 8:00 am and breakfast at the hotel. Late morning will provide an opportunity for some fun interaction at The Escape Room Challenge and/or EnterTRAINmentJunction, just a few miles from the hotel. General manager Bill Balfour (SFS ’77) is sure to provide a fun and memorable experience there. Lunch will follow at a nearby restaurant. You may want to check out the shops at the Streets of West Chester or the new Liberty Center Mall.
We will gather at 6:00 pm on Friday in the vicinity of the Peace Garden at the former St. Francis Seminary for a picnic dinner and social. Please bring lawn chairs if possible. Additional seating will be available. The Peace Garden is located where the swimming pool used to be. We will conclude this gathering with a brief Remembrance Service and singing of Ultima.
We’ll begin with morning prayer at 8:00 am and breakfast at the hotel.
During the day attendees are welcome to visit local attraction or other points of interest.
From 10:00 am to approximately 11:45 am there will be a Reflection on Franciscan Spirituality in the former St. Francis Seminary chapel.
Fr. Henry Beck ('70) and Rick Kasper ('70) will lead this mini retreat. All are welcome to bring a sack lunch or go out to lunch together and stroll about the campus in the early afternoon.
At 5:00 pm we will have Mass on the grounds of the old St. Francis Seminary, followed by a buffet dinner and social in the air-conditioned study hall that will include the presentation of Humanitarian and Christian Life awards.
Alumni and guests many want to venture a short distance north to celebrate 10:30 am Mass with the Faith Community at St.
Leonard's, share in fraternity, hospitality, and tour the facility with a special highlight of the art in the chapel. Pastries and coffee will be available there around noon.
